Three-dimensional works exploring issues and culture. Some works are about social and environmental issues. Other works are about culture. I intentionally combine materials together to describe and evaluate culture, issues, and concepts
Owl of the Night (In Progress)

Owl of the Night is a sculpture using plaster. The sculpture was then chiseled and sanded to create a smooth surface. I want to repurpose this three dimensional form and add in new patterns to help emphasize the owl figure and apply cultural significance. I want to bring my own meaning to life, presenting the owl statue as a symbol of protection. Owls were often connected with negative symbolism, a bad omen. However I want to transform this idea into one with positive light as owls will tend to defend their young in the night, attacking any perceived threat that approaches.
Sarape Scarf (In Progress)

The Sarape Scarf is a mixed media piece using a Mexican fabric known as Sarape and fine silver chains. I am stitching on fine silver chains crafted from scratch to the ends of the scarf to replicate the strings that hang off the fabric.
This work is a mix of jewelry and clothes intertwining the historical importance of silver and fabric in Mexican culture.

Deer Head

Deer Head created by the cardboard rolls of toilet paper and plastic cups with varying colors of dried acrylic paint. These two materials are hot glued together in ways to create the deer silhouette while the plastic cups on the back act as a balancing factor.
